To paint in the Australian bush is to work within vastness, relentless light, and shifting atmosphere.

A contemporary landscape practice grounded in close observation, informed by living on and painting from the land, within the en plein air tradition.

From the Artist Diary

My work grows out of time spent painting directly in the landscape. Through plein air studies and studio paintings, I explore light, atmosphere, and place. The diary is where I share process, paintings, and reflections from the field.

The land is not passive.
It does not perform or respond.
It holds.

Across long horizontal spans, the landscape stretches and waits. It witnesses weather, time, and the quiet pressure of change. The horizon remains steady, not as a boundary but as a line of endurance. Sky moves. Light shifts. Conditions pass through. Yet the land persists in its watching.

I’m not painting events. I’m painting what stays.

These works are not moments captured, but moments held. Nothing dramatic happens, yet everything is present. Wind moves across the surface. Atmosphere settles and lifts. Pressure builds and eases. The land absorbs it all without urgency or display. It observes without judgment - Rath 2026

The Found Collection

Scarves inspired by the landscapes I paint, designed to be worn, lived in, and loved.

SSoft, breathable, and generous in size, each scarf blends cotton and silk for year-round comfort. Developed alongside the exhibition of the same title at Maitland Regional Art Gallery, this collection brings together my artwork, the textures of the valley, and the rhythm of everyday life.
